Voting Abroad: How Russian Citizens Participate in Elections
From September 18 to 20, important elections are taking place in Russia, in which not only residents of the country are participating, but also Russian citizens located abroad. Organizing the voting process for compatriots has become a large-scale task, spanning many countries around the world.
According to official data, more than 1.8 million Russians who permanently or temporarily reside in other states are participating in the voting. In order for everyone who wishes to exercise their right to vote, more than 300 special polling stations have been opened outside of Russia.
The operation of the polling stations is organized within the diplomatic missions and consulates of the Russian Federation. The authorities are striving to ensure the accessibility of the voting process so that citizens, even while at a great distance from their homeland, can express their civic position.
The voting process is proceeding as scheduled under the supervision of the responsible services. The participation of such a large number of people abroad underscores the importance of the elections for all citizens of Russia, regardless of their current location.
