Russian Ministry of Justice updates list of "foreign agents"
The Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation has added new names and organizations to the register of "foreign agents." The Libertarian Party of Russia is now included in this list. The department's decision was published on the ministry's official website at the end of the week.
In addition to the political organization, several private individuals were added to the register. Among them are well-known journalist Alexander Polivanov and writer Dmitry Petrov. Inclusion in this list imposes additional legal obligations on citizens and organizations.
According to Russian legislation, individuals and organizations recognized as "foreign agents" are required to regularly report on their activities to state authorities. Furthermore, all their publications must be accompanied by a special label indicating the author's status.
The status of "foreign agent" implies strict state control over financial transactions and sources of income. Violation of labeling rules or failure to submit reports can lead to administrative and, in some cases, criminal liability.
At this moment, representatives of the Libertarian Party and other individuals included in the list have not yet provided official comments regarding their future actions. The register of "foreign agents" continues to be regularly updated with new members.
