Russia to update rules for providing paid medical services
Starting September 1, 2026, new rules for the provision of paid medical services will come into effect in Russia. The corresponding document has already been prepared and will regulate the operations of private and public clinics for the next several years.
According to the new requirements, medical organizations will be required to provide patients with more transparent information regarding the cost of services and the procedures for their provision. The goal of these innovations is to make the process of receiving paid care more understandable and to protect the rights of citizens when visiting medical centers.
In the updated rules, special attention is paid to the contract between the patient and the clinic. Now, the document must clearly specify all stages of treatment, the timelines for procedures, and the full cost of services. This will help avoid misunderstandings between doctors and patients.
Changes will also affect the procedure for processing documents. Clinics will be required to provide patients with all necessary information regarding the qualifications of specialists and the existence of licenses for specific types of activities in a more accessible format.
It is expected that the new rules will make the country's medical services market more organized. Patients are advised to carefully study the updated terms before signing any documents to ensure the quality and legality of the care being received.
