Russia plans to increase the number of no-fly zones
The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has put forward a new initiative concerning aviation security. The agency plans to significantly expand the list of territories over which aircraft flights will be completely prohibited.
According to the proposed project, the number of such zones in the country is set to more than double, from the current 374 to 818. These changes will affect various regions of Russia and are aimed at strengthening control over the use of airspace.
Official documents emphasize that such measures are necessary to ensure the security of civilian and state facilities. In the event of a violation of the established prohibitions, air defense (AD) assets may take measures to intercept unauthorized aircraft.
At the moment, the project is in the discussion stage. Experts note that the expansion of restricted zones could affect private aviation routes and the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles, the owners of which will have to plan their flights more carefully in the future.
It is expected that the new rules will help increase the overall level of security under the current circumstances. In the near future, the ministry plans to finalize the document and approve the definitive list of restricted territories.
