Rules for exporting foreign cash to CIS countries have changed in Russia
Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree introducing new restrictions on the export of foreign cash from the country. These changes apply to funds that citizens plan to take to certain Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries.
According to the new rules, control over the movement of cash across the border is becoming stricter. The purpose of these measures is to ensure financial stability and protect the national economy under current conditions. The authorities emphasize that such steps are necessary to prevent the illegal outflow of capital.
Previously, restrictions were already in place in Russia on the export of cash exceeding the equivalent of 10,000 US dollars. Now, additional requirements apply to transactions involving a number of CIS countries, which requires travelers and citizens to pay closer attention to customs declaration rules.
Experts note that the new measures are aimed at combating shadow financial flows. Citizens planning trips abroad are advised to familiarize themselves with current customs regulations on official resources in advance to avoid problems when passing through controls at airports and border checkpoints.
At the moment, the government continues to monitor the economic situation. It is expected that the tightening of rules will help strengthen financial discipline and ensure more transparent control over the movement of funds between Russia and neighboring states.
