IAEA Director General assesses the contribution of Russian technologies to global nuclear energy
Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi stated that the global community does not yet fully grasp the significance of Russian achievements in the nuclear sphere. According to him, the technologies that Russia is developing today could significantly change the future of global energy.
Experts are primarily focused on fast-neutron reactors. This area is one of the key priorities for the Russian nuclear industry. These installations allow for operation within a so-called closed nuclear fuel cycle, which makes the energy production process more efficient and environmentally friendly.
Using closed-cycle technologies makes it possible to reuse spent nuclear fuel. This not only increases the amount of available resources but also significantly reduces the volume of radioactive waste. Russia currently holds a leading position in the world in implementing such innovations into industrial operation.
Experts note that the development of such technologies is of strategic importance for energy security. The transition to fast-neutron reactors could be an important step toward creating a sustainable and long-term power supply system capable of meeting the growing needs of the global economy.
Thus, the IAEA Director General's assessment highlights the high level of Russian engineering developments. In the future, these technologies could become the foundation for international cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear energy, offering the world safer and more efficient ways to generate electricity.
