Russia reminds citizens of the rules for fathers taking parental leave
In Russia, more and more men are deciding to take on the responsibility of caring for their child during the first months of their life. In light of this, the relevant authorities have decided to remind citizens how to properly apply for parental leave and receive state benefits if the father, rather than the mother, takes the leave.
According to current Russian legislation, the right to parental leave until the child reaches the age of three belongs not only to the mother but also to the father and other relatives. It is important to note that state social insurance benefits are paid monthly until the child turns one and a half years old.
To apply for leave, the father must provide his employer with a set of documents. This includes an application for leave, the child's birth certificate, and a certificate from the mother's place of employment stating that she is not using this leave and is not receiving the corresponding benefit. If the mother is not employed, the certificate must be obtained from social security authorities.
The amount of the benefit is 40% of the father's average earnings over the last two years. At the same time, the law establishes minimum and maximum payment limits, which are indexed annually by the state. It is important to remember that during such leave, the father may work part-time or from home while retaining the right to receive the benefit.
Experts emphasize that the document processing procedure has become easier thanks to the development of electronic services. All necessary information is available on the "Gosuslugi" (State Services) portal, where one can clarify details and submit preliminary applications. Specialists recommend discussing the distribution of responsibilities with the employer in advance so that the application process goes smoothly.
