Bank of Russia lowers oil price forecast for 2026
The Central Bank of the Russian Federation has updated its economic forecasts for the coming years. According to the new data, the regulator has revised its expectations for the price of oil, which is used for tax calculations. The forecast for 2026 is now 60 dollars per barrel, although in April of this year, experts had expected the price to be at the 65-dollar level.
This decision is linked to the current situation in the global energy market. Analysts note that the cost of "black gold" continues to be influenced by geopolitical factors, in particular, the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz. Any instability in this region traditionally causes concern among investors and affects global energy prices.
Specialists emphasize that changing the forecast is a standard procedure for adapting to changing market conditions. The Bank of Russia is closely monitoring developments in the world, as revenue from oil sales remains an important part of the country's state budget.
In the future, experts will continue to monitor how the situation in the Strait of Hormuz develops further. If tensions in the region persist, this could lead to new price fluctuations, which would require the regulator to make additional adjustments to its economic strategy.
