The Russian Ministry of Transport is implementing electronic transport documents for businesses

The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation held a meeting with representatives of the business community of the Central Federal District. The main topic of discussion was the implementation of the State Information System for Electronic Transport Documents (GIS EPD). The authorities clarified the rules for working with the new system to entrepreneurs and answered pressing questions.

The electronic document system was launched on a voluntary basis back in 2022. Over the past period, its operation has been tested by the largest participants in the country's logistics market. According to ministry representatives, the transition to "digital" helps make the cargo transportation process more transparent, faster, and more convenient for all parties.

Using electronic documents allows companies to reduce expenses on paper and courier services, as well as speed up the exchange of information between the sender, the carrier, and the cargo recipient. All documentation is stored in a secure digital format, which reduces the risk of losing important papers and simplifies interaction with government agencies.

During the meeting, Ministry of Transport experts emphasized that the state will continue to provide support to businesses in the digitalization process. Market participants were informed about the technical requirements for the system and how to properly configure internal processes for working with electronic waybills and trip sheets.

The implementation of GIS EPD is part of a large-scale program for the digital transformation of Russia's transport industry. It is expected that in the near future, the use of electronic documents will become the standard for most logistics companies, which will increase the efficiency of the entire transport network of the country.
