Jeddah Islamic Port receives first giant sugar vessel following berth upgrades
Jeddah Islamic Port recently received the first vessel in the large-capacity category dedicated to transporting sugar, marking a new achievement that reflects the continuous development of Saudi port infrastructure.
This reception follows the completion of development and deepening works at berth number (29), where the berth depth reached 13 meters. This project aims to increase the port's efficiency and its capacity to accommodate larger vessels than previously possible.
This step comes as part of the Saudi Ports Authority's efforts to enhance the Kingdom's logistical capabilities and facilitate international trade. Furthermore, the development of the berths contributes to reducing waiting times for vessels, which supports national supply chains and provides faster and more effective logistical services.
Jeddah Islamic Port is considered one of the most important ports in the region, and these improvements contribute to strengthening the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub connecting three continents, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
