Saudi Transport Authority warns against unregulated buses as the new school year begins
As the new school year begins in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Transport General Authority has issued an important warning to parents and students regarding the use of school transportation. The Authority emphasized the necessity of relying solely on licensed carriers to ensure the safety of students during their daily commutes to and from school.
The Authority explained that regulated school buses are characterized by specific safety specifications and precise technical standards that ensure passenger protection. It also urged parents to verify the presence of official identification plates on buses, which indicate that they have obtained the necessary licenses from the competent authorities in the Kingdom.
The Authority confirmed that dealing with unregulated carriers exposes students to uncalculated security and safety risks, as these vehicles lack periodic oversight and the required quality standards. It noted that inspection teams will intensify their field tours during the first weeks of school to apprehend any violations related to the illegal transport of students.
This step comes as part of the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to raise the level of traffic safety and provide a safe and comfortable educational environment for students. The Authority calls on everyone to report any suspicious or unlicensed buses through official channels, in order to contribute to enhancing the safety of the school community and protecting our children from any potential risks.
