Houthi group denies attempt to target Makkah with a drone
The Houthi group in Yemen announced on Wednesday its rejection of the accusations directed at it regarding an attempt to target the city of Makkah. This statement came in response to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's announcement that it had detected a drone attempting to head toward the holy sites.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia considers the security of Makkah a red line, as authorities place extreme importance on protecting the Grand Mosque and the safety of pilgrims and visitors from any external threats. Official authorities in the Kingdom had previously confirmed detecting suspicious movements in the airspace.
For its part, the Houthi group categorically denied these allegations, asserting that its military targets do not include holy religious sites. These developments come in light of ongoing regional tensions and international efforts being made to reach a peaceful solution to the Yemeni crisis.
Political circles in the region are following these events with great interest, given the sensitivity of the geographical location and the great religious status of Makkah to Muslims all over the world.
Saudi authorities continue to take all necessary security measures to ensure the security and stability of the country, and always emphasize the readiness of the air defense forces to deal with any threats that may affect the security of the Kingdom or the integrity of its territories.
