Jeddah Islamic Port receives first giant sugar vessel following berth upgrades
Jeddah Islamic Port recently received the first large-capacity vessel dedicated to transporting sugar, marking a new achievement that reflects the ongoing development of Saudi port infrastructure.
This reception follows the completion of development and deepening works at berth number (29), which has now reached a depth of 13 meters. This strategic step aims to increase the port's handling capacity and facilitate maritime trade.
This expansion is part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's efforts to enhance the efficiency of national ports, in line with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 to transform the country into a global logistics hub connecting three continents.
It is expected that the berth development will contribute to attracting more giant vessels, helping to accelerate cargo unloading operations and reduce logistics costs, which will positively impact supply chains in the Kingdom.
Jeddah Islamic Port continues to implement comprehensive development plans to raise the level of services provided, strengthening its position as one of the most important ports in the region and the world for receiving large-scale vessels.
