Jeddah Islamic Port receives its first giant sugar vessel following berth upgrades
Jeddah Islamic Port has witnessed a significant milestone in the maritime transport sector, as it received the first large-capacity vessel dedicated to transporting sugar. This arrival comes after the completion of development and deepening works at the port's berth number (29).
The deepening works at this berth reached a depth of 13 meters, allowing the port to accommodate large vessels that were previously unable to enter. This step is part of a comprehensive plan to develop the infrastructure of Saudi ports to increase their operational efficiency.
This project aims to enhance Jeddah Port's capacity to receive various types of giant vessels, thereby facilitating import and export operations. This development also reflects the Kingdom's commitment to achieving the goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.
It is expected that this upgrade will lead to reduced shipping costs and increased cargo handling speed at the port. This move is considered a strong impetus to support the national economy and strengthen the Kingdom's position as a global logistics hub connecting three continents.
