Yemeni Ministry of Health warns of the repercussions of Sana'a Airport closure on the lives of thousands
The Ministry of Health in Sana'a has announced a concerning report regarding the humanitarian and health situation in Yemen, noting that the continued closure of Sana'a International Airport to flights has led to catastrophic consequences for the lives of patients.
The Ministry stated in its report that the restrictions imposed on air traffic have caused the deaths of approximately 60,000 patients who were in urgent need of traveling abroad to receive specialized treatment that is unavailable within the country due to the damage sustained by the health sector.
The Ministry also warned that the lives of more than 120,000 other patients are in real danger, as they suffer from chronic diseases and complex health conditions that require urgent medical intervention outside of Yemen, which cannot be achieved under the current ongoing blockade.
These figures highlight the ongoing humanitarian suffering in the region, as these crises directly affect the stability of the situation in the regional neighborhood, making the Yemeni file a constant presence in the discussions of international organizations and humanitarian initiatives.
In concluding its report, the Ministry called on the relevant authorities to open air corridors for humanitarian purposes, emphasizing that the health situation in the country requires rapid international action to avoid further casualties in the near future.
