Singapore Activates Haze Subsidy Scheme as Air Quality Declines
The Singapore Ministry of Health (MOH) has announced the activation of its haze subsidy scheme starting this Monday. This decision comes as air quality levels in the country have begun to deteriorate, raising concerns about the health of residents.
Under this initiative, citizens can visit Public Health Preparedness Clinics (PHPCs) and polyclinics to receive medical treatment for haze-related conditions. The subsidies are designed to lower the cost of consultations and medications for those suffering from illnesses triggered by poor air quality, such as respiratory issues or eye irritation.
Health officials are encouraging residents to monitor the daily air quality readings closely. Vulnerable groups, including children, the elderly, and those with pre-existing heart or lung conditions, are advised to limit outdoor activities when the air quality reaches unhealthy levels.
To access these subsidies, patients should inform their clinic staff that they are seeking treatment for symptoms related to the haze. The government remains committed to supporting the public and ensuring that healthcare remains affordable and accessible during this period of environmental concern.
