More Singapore Schools to Screen World Cup Final and Delay Morning Classes
Following the lead of St Joseph’s Institution (SJI), more educational institutions in Singapore have announced plans to support students who wish to watch the FIFA Women’s World Cup final. The Singapore Sports School and Victoria School will host live screenings of the match on July 20.
Because the final match takes place during school hours, these schools have decided to adjust their schedules. By allowing students to watch the game together on campus, the institutions hope to foster school spirit while ensuring that students do not miss out on the global sporting event.
To help students manage their rest, the schools will delay the start of classes on the morning of the match. This decision acknowledges the excitement surrounding the tournament and aims to balance academic responsibilities with the opportunity for students to engage in a major international sports event.
This trend highlights how local schools are becoming more flexible with their timetables to accommodate significant cultural and sporting moments. By providing a supervised environment for the screening, the schools are encouraging students to enjoy the match safely with their peers and teachers.
