Bhutanese Nurses Join Singapore's Public Healthcare Workforce
Singapore’s public healthcare sector has welcomed a new group of international professionals to help support the nation's medical needs. Approximately 40 nurses from Bhutan are now working in local hospitals and clinics, contributing to the country’s healthcare system.
These nurses arrived in Singapore as part of the Academy of Nursing Scholarship (ANS) program. This initiative provides fully funded training for international students, allowing them to gain professional qualifications and clinical experience. The program has been highly successful, having trained over 8,000 nurses since its inception.
By integrating international talent, Singapore aims to manage the increasing demand for healthcare services as the population ages. The Bhutanese nurses bring valuable skills and dedication to their roles, working alongside local staff to ensure patients receive quality care across various public institutions.
This partnership highlights Singapore's commitment to building a diverse and capable workforce in the medical field. As these scholars settle into their roles, they play a vital part in maintaining the high standards of the Singaporean healthcare system.
