Singapore Tech Sector Sees Rise in Acquisitions Amid Quiet IPO Market
Singapore’s technology sector experienced a shift in activity during the third quarter of 2026. While the market for new public listings remained quiet, there was a notable increase in business consolidation through company acquisitions.
According to recent data, there were 14 tech acquisitions recorded between July and September. This trend suggests that established companies are choosing to grow by purchasing existing businesses rather than waiting for market conditions to improve for new stock market debuts.
In contrast, the Initial Public Offering (IPO) market saw very little movement. Only one company successfully launched an IPO during this three-month period. Furthermore, no new “unicorns”—startups valued at over US$1 billion—emerged in the local tech landscape during this time.
Industry experts note that these figures reflect a cautious environment for investors. While the high number of acquisitions shows that there is still interest in the tech sector, companies are currently prioritizing stability and strategic growth over launching new public offerings.
Moving forward, market observers will be watching to see if the IPO market picks up speed as the year comes to a close. For now, the focus remains on how these recent acquisitions will shape the future of Singapore’s digital economy.
