Two Singapore Traffic Police Officers Hospitalized After Patrol Vehicle Catches Fire
Two Singapore Traffic Police (TP) officers were sent to the hospital on Tuesday following a vehicle fire on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE). The incident occurred while the officers were conducting their regular patrol duties along the busy expressway.
According to the police, the officers noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment of their patrol vehicle while they were driving. Recognizing the immediate danger, they acted quickly to pull over and evacuate the vehicle before the situation escalated.
Emergency services were alerted to the scene to manage the fire and ensure the safety of other road users. Both officers were taken to the hospital for medical observation due to smoke inhalation. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the mechanical fault that led to the blaze. The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of road safety, even for those tasked with patrolling the nation's highways.
