Leadership Changes Announced for Singapore’s Civil Service
The Singapore government has announced significant leadership changes within its civil service. Professor Tan Chorh Chuan, who currently serves as the Permanent Secretary (Strategy) at the Prime Minister’s Office, will be retiring from his position on September 1.
Professor Tan has had a long and distinguished career in public service. Before his current role, he was the inaugural Chief Health Scientist at the Ministry of Health and served as the President of the National University of Singapore for many years. His contributions to the nation’s healthcare and academic sectors have been widely recognized.
To fill the vacancy, the government has appointed Mr. Ng Chad-Son as the new Permanent Secretary. Mr. Ng is currently the Chief Executive of the Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA). He brings extensive experience in technology and defence to his new role within the civil service leadership team.
These changes are part of the regular rotation and renewal process within the Singapore government. The appointment of Mr. Ng and the retirement of Professor Tan will officially take effect at the beginning of September.
