Singapore Activates Medical Schemes to Combat Haze
The Singapore government has announced the activation of two important medical support programs to help residents manage the effects of haze. Starting from October 12, the Public Health Preparedness Clinic (PHPC) Scheme and the Haze Subsidy Scheme (HSS) will be available to the public.
These schemes are designed to provide financial assistance to citizens who need medical treatment for conditions related to the haze. The haze, which is caused by smoke from forest fires in the region, can often lead to health issues such as respiratory problems, eye irritation, and skin conditions.
Under the Haze Subsidy Scheme, eligible Singaporeans can receive subsidies for consultations and medications at participating clinics. This ensures that those who are most affected by the poor air quality can access affordable healthcare without significant financial stress.
The Public Health Preparedness Clinic scheme works alongside the HSS to ensure that clinics are well-prepared to handle an increase in patients during periods of high pollution. By activating these programs, the government aims to maintain public health and provide a safety net for the community.
Residents are encouraged to monitor the daily air quality readings provided by the National Environment Agency. If you feel unwell due to the haze, you are advised to visit a participating clinic to receive the necessary care and support.
