Singapore Announces Haze Subsidies for Medical Treatment
The Singapore Ministry of Health has announced a new initiative to support residents during periods of poor air quality. Starting from October 12, eligible Singaporeans can receive subsidized medical care for health conditions caused by the haze.
Under this new program, patients will pay no more than S$10 for consultations and treatment related to haze symptoms. This subsidy will be available at participating general practitioner (GP) clinics and all public polyclinics across the island.
The initiative aims to ensure that healthcare remains affordable for those who are most affected by the smoke and air pollution. By capping the cost at S$10, the government hopes to encourage residents to seek timely medical attention if they experience respiratory issues or other haze-related illnesses.
Residents are encouraged to check their eligibility and identify the nearest participating clinics as the region prepares for potential haze conditions. This measure is part of Singapore’s ongoing efforts to protect public health and manage the impact of environmental challenges.
