Air Quality Reaches Unhealthy Levels in Central Singapore
Air quality in central Singapore has reached the unhealthy range, according to the latest data from the National Environment Agency. At 1:00 pm today, the 24-hour Pollutant Standards Index (PSI) in the central region rose to 105.
Other parts of the island recorded lower levels, though they remain close to the unhealthy threshold. The eastern region recorded a reading of 96, while the western region stood at 93. The northern and southern parts of Singapore recorded readings of 87 and 90, respectively.
A PSI reading between 101 and 200 is classified as "unhealthy." When air quality reaches this level, health authorities generally advise the public to reduce prolonged or strenuous outdoor physical activities.
Residents, especially those with pre-existing heart or respiratory conditions, are encouraged to monitor their health closely. The authorities continue to track the situation and will provide updates if there are significant changes to the air quality across the island.
