DENOSA Issues One-Month Ultimatum to Gauteng Health Department
The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA) has issued a formal warning to the Gauteng Department of Health. The union has given the department exactly one month to resolve critical staff and resource shortages that are currently affecting public hospitals across the province.
Bongani Banda, a representative for DENOSA, stated that the healthcare system is suffering from significant leadership instability. According to the union, these management issues have made it difficult for nurses to provide proper care to patients, leading to increased pressure on medical staff.
DENOSA argues that the lack of resources, combined with poor administration, is putting the lives of both patients and healthcare workers at risk. The union is calling for immediate intervention from provincial authorities to stabilize the sector and ensure that hospitals are adequately equipped to handle the needs of the public.
If the department fails to address these concerns within the 30-day period, the union has suggested that they may take further action. For now, patients and staff in Gauteng are waiting to see how the provincial government will respond to these serious demands.
