Nigerian Fitness Chain Plans Major Expansion Across West Africa
A prominent Nigerian fitness company, i-Fitness, has announced ambitious plans to grow its business across the West African region. The company, which is supported by the investment firm Verod Capital, has successfully expanded from a single gym in Lagos to 30 locations across Nigeria.
Following this rapid growth, the fitness chain is now looking beyond its home borders. Executives have confirmed that the company is currently eyeing new markets in Accra, Ghana, and Abidjan, Ivory Coast. This move marks a significant step in the company’s goal to become a leading fitness provider on the continent.
According to the company’s leadership, the expansion strategy is well underway. While the firm operated 16 locations in 2022, it has already nearly doubled that number. The business now aims to finish 2026 with a total of 35 to 36 active gym locations.
This growth highlights a rising demand for professional health and wellness facilities in major African cities. As the fitness industry continues to develop, companies like i-Fitness are playing a key role in providing modern exercise spaces for urban populations.
For investors and observers of African business, this expansion serves as a sign of a strengthening regional economy. By moving into new countries, i-Fitness hopes to replicate its Nigerian success and build a stronger brand presence across West Africa.
