New Partnership Boosts Funding for South African Tech Startups
The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) has launched a new initiative in collaboration with the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA) to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This project aims to improve access to funding for businesses that focus on technology and innovation within South Africa.
The initiative is starting with a four-month pilot program. During this period, the program will provide targeted support to 10 selected SMEs. These businesses operate in key economic sectors, specifically health, agriculture, and financial technology, also known as fintech.
By working together, the JSE and TIA hope to help these companies grow and succeed in a competitive market. The program is designed to address the common challenges that tech-focused startups face when trying to secure the capital needed to expand their operations.
This partnership marks an important step in strengthening the local technology ecosystem. If the pilot program is successful, it could lead to more opportunities for innovation-led businesses across the country in the future.
