South Africa’s Oldest Construction Company Celebrates 129 Years of Family Leadership
The Barrow Group, a prominent name in the South African construction industry, is celebrating a remarkable milestone. The company has officially reached 129 years of operation, marking over a century of service in the country’s building sector.
What makes this achievement particularly unique is the company’s leadership history. For five generations, the business has remained under the management of the Barrow family. This continuity is rare in the modern corporate world, where many long-standing firms eventually change ownership or management structures.
Throughout its long history, the Barrow Group has established itself as a cornerstone of South African infrastructure. By maintaining family control for more than a century, the company has managed to preserve its core values while adapting to the changing needs of the construction market.
As the company looks toward the future, its legacy serves as a testament to the stability of family-run enterprises in South Africa. The Barrow Group continues to operate today, building upon the foundation laid by its ancestors nearly 130 years ago.
