Unique 'Stargazing Cube' Named South Africa’s Top Hidden Gem
BBC Lifestyle has officially announced the winner of its first-ever "Hidden Gems South Africa" competition. The title was awarded to the Stargazing Cube, a unique accommodation that offers guests a special way to experience the natural beauty of the country. This competition aims to find and celebrate the most interesting and unusual travel spots across South Africa.
The Stargazing Cube is a modern, transparent structure designed for travelers who want to feel closer to nature. Its most famous feature is a king-sized bed that can slide out from the room onto a private outdoor deck. This allows guests to sleep directly under the night sky while still enjoying the comfort of a luxury hotel room.
This award is part of a larger effort to promote local tourism and highlight "hidden gems"—places that are beautiful but perhaps not yet famous. By showcasing these locations, the show encourages South Africans to explore new parts of their own country. The Stargazing Cube stood out because of its creative design and the immersive experience it offers to visitors.
As the first winner of this new award, the Stargazing Cube is expected to become a popular destination for both local and international tourists. The success of the competition shows that there is a growing interest in unique travel experiences that combine modern luxury with the great outdoors.
