New voter registration dates & rain today
South Africans have another chance to register for the upcoming November elections following a successful turnout. Meanwhile, commuters should prepare for foggy and wet conditions across several provinces today.
You can register to vote for the November elections during a second registration weekend scheduled for August. The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) — the body that runs the country's elections — announced the new dates to help more people join the voters' roll. This follows a high turnout of young people during the previous registration weekend.
Drivers should expect morning fog across most provinces and isolated thundershowers in some regions today, June 23. The South African Weather Service warns that visibility may be low during the morning commute. Some areas will see isolated showers throughout the day, while other parts of the country will remain partly cloudy.
