Inter-Korean Tensions Rise Following Landmine Explosion in DMZ
A landmine planted by North Korean troops recently exploded in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), the border region between North and South Korea. Three South Korean soldiers sustained serious injuries in the incident and are currently receiving treatment.
According to military authorities, it has been confirmed that the landmine was intentionally placed by North Korean soldiers who crossed south of the Military Demarcation Line (MDL). This act constitutes a violation of the armistice agreement and is causing significant tension in inter-Korean relations.
Our military has defined this incident as a clear provocation by North Korea and plans to respond firmly. Currently, military authorities are securing the area around the incident site and strengthening defense readiness in preparation for the possibility of further provocations.
This incident has once again heightened military tensions between the two Koreas. While the government and the military are dealing with North Korea's provocation resolutely, they are also managing the situation carefully to maintain peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.
