Seoul Named World's 'Most Sustainable City' for 5 Consecutive Years
The Seoul Metropolitan Government has once again proven its global competitiveness by securing the top spot in the sustainable city category for five consecutive years in a prestigious global city evaluation. This assessment comprehensively considered cities' environmental protection efforts, economic stability, and the quality of life of their citizens.
According to recently released data, Seoul has maintained its position at the top of this category for five years, from 2022 to this year. This signifies that the eco-friendly policies and smart city infrastructure construction pursued by the Seoul Metropolitan Government are highly regarded internationally.
In this evaluation, Dublin, Ireland, followed Seoul to take second place. Hong Kong ranked third, London, UK, fourth, and Athens, Greece, fifth, demonstrating the fierce competition among major global cities for sustainable development.
Meanwhile, in addition to these achievements, educational efforts for future generations are also continuing. Students from Korea and Mongolia are preparing for a project competition themed around the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the 'SIA World Championship' to be held in 2026.
Seoul plans to continue strengthening various environmental and social policies to maintain its status as a sustainable city. Many are looking forward to the impact that the performances of Korean students on the international stage and the continued development of Seoul will bring in the future.
