Chilgok-gun Launches Customized Delinquency Management for Small-Amount Tax Delinquents
Chilgok-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do, announced that it will operate a 'Customized Delinquency Management Team' to resolve the issue of local tax arrears. This project was established to directly verify the situations of those who have been unable to pay their taxes and to provide assistance to those experiencing financial difficulties.
The delinquency management team will conduct phone and in-person consultations for small-amount tax delinquents residing in Chilgok-gun. Rather than simply demanding payment, they will assess the delinquents' financial situations and guide them on payment methods or assist with installment plans.
In particular, this initiative focuses on distinguishing between those who intentionally avoid paying taxes and those who are genuinely in difficult circumstances. For delinquents lacking the financial capacity to pay, the team plans to provide practical support, such as connecting them with welfare services.
A Chilgok-gun official stated, "Through the operation of this delinquency management team, we aim to maintain fairness for citizens who diligently pay their taxes while providing an opportunity for recovery to neighbors in need."
Such efforts by the local government are expected to simultaneously achieve the two goals of securing tax revenue and addressing blind spots in welfare. Chilgok-gun plans to continue doing its utmost to ensure transparent and fair tax administration.
