Government to Provide 90 Billion Won in Discount Support to Curb Chuseok Prices
Concerns over rising prices are growing ahead of the Chuseok holiday. As domestic prices have risen due to the recent increase in international oil prices, the burden on citizens regarding the cost of holiday groceries has also increased.
In response, the government has decided to inject a total budget of 90 billion won to stabilize public livelihood for Chuseok. Prime Minister Han Duck-soo stated that the purpose of this support is to lower the prices of seasonal Chuseok goods and reduce the economic burden on ordinary people.
This funding will be used intensively for discount events to lower the prices of major seasonal items frequently placed on Chuseok memorial tables, such as napa cabbage, apples, pears, and beef. The government explained that it would help consumers prepare holiday food at affordable prices at large supermarkets and traditional markets.
Through these measures, the government plans to do its best to curb the rise in prices during the holiday period and ensure a smooth supply of seasonal goods. It is expected that citizens will be able to prepare for the Chuseok holiday with a slightly lighter heart thanks to the government's discount support.
