Representative Lee Jae-myung Emphasizes Resumption of North Korea-U.S. Dialogue and Peace on the Korean Peninsula
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, recently expressed a positive stance regarding the signs of resuming dialogue between North Korea and the United States. Representative Lee emphasized that this flow of dialogue could serve as an important opportunity to improve inter-Korean relations.
Representative Lee explained that if North Korea-U.S. dialogue resumes, it will serve as a starting point to break the deadlock in inter-Korean relations. He also added that there is no need to worry about the so-called 'Korea Passing,' where South Korea is sidelined in issues concerning the Korean Peninsula.
Political circles interpret these remarks as reflecting the opposition party's determination to restart the Korean Peninsula peace process. Representative Lee repeatedly emphasized that easing tensions on the Korean Peninsula and creating a peaceful environment are of the utmost importance.
Many citizens are now focusing their attention on how North Korea-U.S. dialogue will actually proceed and what impact it will have on inter-Korean relations. It appears that the government and political circles will closely monitor changes in the situation on the Korean Peninsula and prepare countermeasures.
