Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly Points Out Issues with Failed Tax Revenue Forecasts and Large-Scale Supplementary Budget Cuts
The Safety and Public Administration Committee of the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly recently held a work report session for the Local Administration Bureau during its 392nd extraordinary session. During the meeting, Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly member Kim Yong-chan expressed strong concerns regarding the province's fiscal management practices.
The primary issue highlighted by Assemblyman Kim is the failure of Gyeonggi Province's tax revenue forecasting. As actual tax receipts have fallen short of initial projections, the province has been forced to significantly reduce budgets for planned projects.
The resulting large-scale supplementary budget cuts are facing criticism for potentially hindering the implementation of major projects intended for the residents. Assemblyman Kim emphasized that the stability of fiscal management is being undermined by the lack of accurate tax revenue estimation.
Through this work report, the Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly demanded that future fiscal plans be established more cautiously and that the tax revenue forecasting system be improved. Attention is now focused on how Gyeonggi Province will address these fiscal issues based on this feedback.
