Thailand Modifies Visa-Free Policy... 90-Day Stay for South Korean Tourists Remains Unchanged
The Thai government recently made significant revisions to its visa-free entry policy for foreign tourists. Previously, tourists from many countries were granted a 60-day visa-free stay, but moving forward, the duration of stay will be applied differently depending on the country.
Following this policy change, the visa-free stay period for tourists from major countries such as the United States and Japan has been shortened to 30 days. The Thai government explained that this decision was made to increase tourism and operate the entry management system more efficiently.
Fortunately, South Korean tourists are not affected by this policy change. South Koreans can continue to stay in Thailand visa-free for 90 days upon entry, just as they did before. As Thailand is one of the most popular travel destinations for South Koreans, this measure has brought a sense of relief to Korean travelers.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Secretary of Tourism recognizes recent incidents involving South Korean tourists as a very serious issue. Philippine authorities are reviewing a new support system to address the language and cultural barriers faced by South Korean tourists and to create a safer travel environment.
Major Southeast Asian countries, including Thailand and the Philippines, are implementing various policies to attract South Korean tourists. Koreans planning to travel are advised to check the latest entry regulations and safety information for their destination country in advance.
