Suwon City Collects 300 Million Won in First Half Through Intensive Crackdown on Delinquent Vehicles
Suwon Special City has conducted a rigorous crackdown on vehicles with unpaid local taxes and automobile-related taxes. This initiative was carried out to foster a fair tax-paying culture, with city hall and district offices working jointly to identify delinquent vehicles.
During the first half of this year, Suwon City seized license plates from a total of 405 delinquent vehicles. License plate seizure is a measure that restricts a vehicle's operation by forcibly removing its plates due to unpaid taxes. Through this, the city achieved the result of collecting approximately 300 million won in arrears in the first half alone.
This crackdown was conducted by integrally managing local taxes and automobile-related revenues. A city official stated that, in consideration of equity with citizens who faithfully pay their taxes, the city plans to continue implementing even stronger administrative measures against chronic delinquents, such as asset seizures in addition to license plate impoundment.
Suwon City expects that this crackdown will raise awareness among delinquent taxpayers and contribute significantly to expanding local finances. The city intends to continue parallel efforts of consistent enforcement and public awareness campaigns to ensure transparent and fair tax administration.
