Government Refutes Ukraine's Claim of 'South Korea Supplying Oil to Russia' as Groundless
Recently, controversy has arisen following claims from the Ukrainian side that South Korea is supplying petroleum products to Russia. The Ukrainian government pointed out that South Korea has assisted Russia at a time when it is facing difficulties due to a shortage of refining facilities.
In response, our government immediately issued a rebuttal. The Presidential Office emphasized that the Ukrainian side's claims are contrary to the facts and highly inappropriate. The government clarified its position that South Korean companies are strictly complying with international sanctions against Russia.
A government official stated that if any problems are actually discovered, appropriate measures will be taken. However, as far as investigations have gone to date, no evidence has been confirmed that South Korean companies have directly supplied large quantities of petroleum products to Russia.
This issue demonstrates that South Korea's diplomatic position is being handled sensitively amidst international sanctions. The government plans to closely monitor the situation in the future and continue its cooperation with the international community.
