Rep. Park Kyun-tack dismisses rumors of being a Justice Minister candidate and mentions confiscation of Roh Tae-woo's slush funds
Amid recent political speculation that Democratic Party lawmaker Park Kyun-tack is being considered as a candidate for the next Minister of Justice, Rep. Park has personally addressed the matter. He stated that he has not received any communication from the government to date and made it clear that he hopes not to be a candidate.
Rep. Park explained the reasons why he does not desire the position of Justice Minister. He emphasized that having worked at the Ministry of Justice four times in the past, he does not have much new curiosity about the ministry's operations and believes there is more important work to be done in the National Assembly at this time.
Furthermore, in an interview, Rep. Park also touched upon the issue of former President Roh Tae-woo's slush funds. He argued that it is entirely possible to legally confiscate the former president's slush funds and expressed the view that a legal review regarding this matter is necessary.
These remarks have brought the discussion on the recovery of past slush funds back to the surface, alongside the political speculation regarding ministerial candidates. Rep. Park reaffirmed that his role is focused on legislative activities within the National Assembly rather than a ministerial position.
Many citizens are now paying close attention to how the government will proceed with the appointment of the Justice Minister and how discussions related to the confiscation of the Roh Tae-woo slush funds will unfold in the National Assembly.
