Large-scale 'Green Energy Complex' to be Built in Saemangeum
The Saemangeum Development and Investment Agency (SDIA) and Korea South-East Power (KOEN) have joined forces to build a large-scale 'Green Energy Complex' in the third zone of Saemangeum, Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do. This project is garnering attention as a significant initiative to accelerate South Korea's transition to eco-friendly energy.
The core of this complex is solar power generation. The main objective of this project is to utilize the electricity produced by solar power within the complex to create clean hydrogen. Through this, it is expected that a stable supply of eco-friendly energy capable of replacing fossil fuels can be provided.
Through this Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the SDIA plans to construct the relevant facilities and contribute to the revitalization of the local economy. In particular, this project is expected to play a major role in advancing hydrogen production technology using renewable energy.
Moving forward, the Saemangeum region is expected to emerge as a hub for the eco-friendly energy industry. The government and relevant organizations have stated that they will provide full support to ensure the successful progress of this project.
