The Transformation of Discarded Cartons: Practicing Warm Sharing in the Local Community
Recently, there has been an increase in cases of recycling discarded resources to practice warm sharing within local communities. The Ilgok Youth Culture House, located in Gwangju Metropolitan City, announced that it recently collected paper cartons, exchanged them for toilet paper, and donated the items to neighbors in need.
For some time, the Ilgok Youth Culture House has been consistently conducting a paper carton recycling campaign with local residents to protect the environment. The cartons collected in this way underwent a recycling process and were exchanged for 440 rolls of toilet paper. Unlike regular paper, paper cartons are made of high-quality pulp and have a very high recycling value.
The donated toilet paper will be delivered to neighbors in need within the local area. This activity serves as an inspiration to many, as it demonstrates how one can protect the environment while simultaneously practicing love for one's neighbors. For the participating youth, it served as an opportunity to experience the importance of resource circulation firsthand.
Meanwhile, 'plogging' events (an activity where people pick up trash while walking or running) that promote both health and the environment are being actively held in various places across the country, such as the Jeongwang Health Center in Siheung. Small actions that consider the environment like these are coming together to make our society healthier and warmer.
