Preventing EV Fires with AI Technology: ‘EV Keeper’ Solution Gains Attention

Recently, public anxiety over electric vehicle (EV) fires has been growing in South Korea. In particular, fires occurring in underground parking lots can lead to major accidents, making prevention technologies increasingly important. Amid this situation, a new solution that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) technology to detect and respond to EV fires in advance is drawing significant attention.

The Keeper, a company specializing in disaster safety, announced its participation in the upcoming 'FIRE TECH KOREA 2026' exhibition. At this event, The Keeper plans to showcase various safety technologies, centered around 'EV Keeper,' an AI-based early detection and on-site response system for EV fires.

The most significant feature of 'EV Keeper' is that it integrates fire detection and response into a single workflow. AI analyzes the status of electric vehicles in real-time to identify abnormal signs at a very early stage before a fire occurs. The core objective is to secure the 'golden time' to prevent major accidents by providing advance warnings of danger.

South Korea has a high proportion of apartment living, and EV charging facilities are concentrated in underground parking lots, making it extremely difficult to extinguish fires. For this reason, smart disaster prevention technology using AI is being evaluated as a realistic alternative to minimize damage. This system detects heat or smoke quickly, immediately notifies managers, and assists with initial response efforts.

Experts predict that the role of such advanced safety technologies will become even more critical as the adoption of electric vehicles continues to grow. Significant attention is focused on whether the new technologies introduced through this exhibition can contribute to making South Korea's residential environments safer.
