Over 1,000 Gyeongnam Residents Speak with One Voice to Attract Public Institutions to the Province
A large-scale rally was recently held in Gyeongsangnam-do to advocate for the relocation of public institutions to the province. Approximately 1,000 residents attended the event, demonstrating a strong commitment to regional development. The residents emphasized that Gyeongnam is the optimal location for these institutions and urged the government to take notice.
During the rally, participants announced three key demands. First, they called for the integrated headquarters of power generation public enterprises to be relocated to Gyeongnam. Second, they requested that the government prioritize Gyeongnam when proceeding with the second phase of relocating public institutions from the Seoul metropolitan area. Finally, they insisted that the headquarters functions of LH must be maintained in Gyeongnam throughout the reform process.
Residents of Gyeongnam expect that attracting these public institutions will be a significant boost to the local economy. They believe that when public institutions relocate to the region, it will create jobs and foster the growth of related industries, thereby revitalizing the local community. Furthermore, there is a strong consensus that the relocation of public institutions to provincial areas is essential for balanced regional development.
This rally is highly significant as it shows residents taking direct action for the future of the Gyeongnam region. All eyes are now on how the government and relevant authorities will respond to these demands. Gyeongsangnam-do plans to continue its persistent efforts to attract public institutions.
