'Korea Street' Officially Designated in Santiago, Chile… Promoting Korean Culture
Recently, 'Korea Street' was officially designated in downtown Santiago, the capital of Chile. Located in the Patronato district of Santiago, this street spans approximately 600 meters and is home to the Korean Association building and various Korean shops.
This change in street name reflects the growing local interest in Korean culture. The Patronato area has long been called 'Little Korea' due to its large Korean population and numerous restaurants serving Korean food. Now that it has officially been named 'Korea Street,' it is expected to attract even more locals and tourists.
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, recently visited the area to meet with local merchants and share messages of encouragement. He toured the shops, observed the popularity of Korean food, and spent time communicating with locals by asking them directly about their experience with Korean cuisine.
The designation of 'Korea Street' is expected to serve as an opportunity to further invigorate cultural exchange between South Korea and Chile. It is hoped that this place will become an important hub for promoting Korean culture and a venue for harmony where Koreans and local Chileans can come together.
