President Yoon Suk Yeol emphasizes solidarity, reflecting on Brazilian President Lula's labor spirit
During his state visit to Brazil, President Yoon Suk Yeol visited the metalworkers' union office where President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was active in the past. This visit was arranged to personally visit the symbolic site of Brazil's labor movement, which serves as the foundation of President Lula's political roots, and to reflect on its significance.
President Lula worked for workers' rights while active in the metalworkers' union in his youth, and based on this, he led the founding of the Workers' Party (PT) in 1980. While touring the site, President Yoon emphasized that the efforts to create a society where workers are respected are no different in Brazil than they are in South Korea.
This move is interpreted as an effort to strengthen the cooperative relationship between the two countries and build a consensus on the value of labor. President Yoon showed deep interest in the impact that experience in the labor field has on national development.
Through this visit, South Korea and Brazil are expected to further solidify their relationship as partners that share not only economic cooperation but also social values. This schedule served as an opportunity to build trust between the leaders of the two countries and explore future-oriented cooperation measures.
