Kia and Kakao Mobility Collaborate to Develop Autonomous PBVs
Kia and Kakao Mobility have recently joined forces to secure a leading position in the future mobility market. Both companies have decided to jointly develop Purpose Built Vehicles (PBVs) integrated with autonomous driving technology.
Through this collaboration, Kia will provide its vehicle manufacturing expertise, while Kakao Mobility will contribute its autonomous driving software and platform operation know-how. The two companies aim to innovate the customer mobility experience and create a more convenient transportation environment.
PBVs are vehicles that allow for the interior space to be freely reconfigured according to the user's purpose. With the addition of autonomous driving technology, efficiency is expected to increase significantly across various service sectors, such as taxis and logistics delivery.
This partnership is expected to become a significant example of the convergence between South Korea's automotive industry and IT technology. Much attention is focused on what kind of innovative means of transportation the two companies will introduce in the future.
