Citizens looking to reflect on the meaning of Liberation Day visited the history hall to take time to contemplate the history of the independence movement once again.
Seodaemun Prison is a symbolic place that contains the pain of modern Korean history and the aspiration for independence, as it was where independence activists were imprisoned during the Japanese colonial period. Every year, as Liberation Day approaches, the number of citizens visiting this place increases.
Citizens who visited the history hall on this day were seen reflecting deeply on the sacrifices and dedication of independence activists while viewing the exhibits. In particular, family visitors took the opportunity to educate their children on the importance of liberation by explaining the history to them in person.
Liberation Day is a day to commemorate Korea's liberation from Japan on August 15, 1945. Marking its 81st anniversary this year, various commemorative events and exhibitions are being held all across the country.
An official from the history hall expressed gratitude for the interest shown by many citizens and stated that they hope this Liberation Day will be a meaningful time for all citizens.
