'Korea Street' Officially Designated in Santiago, Chile… Visited by Representative Lee Jae-myung
Recently, the official designation of 'Korea Street' in downtown Santiago, the capital of Chile, has been garnering attention. Located in the Patronato district of Santiago, this street encompasses a 600-meter stretch where the Korean Association building and various Korean-owned shops are concentrated.
This area has long been a place where many Koreans reside and conduct economic activities, and this renaming demonstrates the growing influence of Korean culture within the local society. The Santiago city authorities officially named this section 'Korea Street' to commemorate the friendly relations with South Korea.
Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, recently visited the street in person to encourage local Korean residents. While touring the area, Representative Lee engaged in communication with merchants running Korean restaurants and asked locals about the taste and popularity of Korean food.
The designation of 'Korea Street' is expected to serve as an opportunity to further invigorate cultural exchange between South Korea and Chile. It is anticipated that this place will become a new landmark for tourists visiting Santiago to experience and learn about Korean culture.
