IA: 'Modular Data Centers' to Become the New Standard for the Future AI Era
With the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, the importance of the data centers that support it is growing. Amidst this, the domestic company IA is drawing attention by emphasizing that 'Modular Data Centers (MDC)' should become the new standard for the future AI era.
A modular data center refers to a method where power supply units, cooling systems, servers, and other components necessary for data center operations are pre-manufactured in a single module form and then installed. It has the advantage of having a shorter installation period compared to the traditional method of building large-scale data centers, and it can be deployed quickly in necessary locations.
IA specifically explained that MDCs are essential in the era of 'Sovereign AI' and 'Physical AI.' Sovereign AI refers to countries or companies protecting their own data and building independent AI, while Physical AI refers to AI that operates in physical environments, such as robots or autonomous vehicles.
Experts believe that as AI services become more diverse in the future, it will become increasingly important to operate data centers more efficiently and flexibly. This proposal by IA demonstrates the industry's move to innovate data center construction methods in line with the surging demand for AI.
Industry interest is gathering on how much more modular data centers will be utilized in domestic and international AI industrial sites in the future, and how much this can actually increase the operational efficiency of data centers.
